It's not talked about much on the forum but I'd like to bring it up today. While all of us here have much in the way of material goods and possessions, there are millions out there that don't. Many children will not get up to presents under a tree or even have a tree. Many more will not have a Christmas dinner, some will not even have a roof over their heads.
I'd like to ask each of you here to do something for somebody else this season. Anything will help somebody who has nothing. Some examples that are happening in my area right now are:
A coat drive that places boxes in office buildings for people to donate unneeded warm clothing to be distributed to the needy. There's also another, similar effort for blankets.
Make a direct donation to a homeless shelter in your area. It can be in the form of cash, food or other useful items. Many of the shelters look for toy donations that can be given to the kids. Almost every church you see also has some program to help the needy.
If you have some work that needs doing, offer to pay a needy person to do the work and pay them in cash. If they will be working more than a couple hours, provide them a hot meal while they are there.
Spend a couple hours in your free time helping at a shelter or food distribution center.
You can probably think of a thousand other things you can do to help. It doesn't need to be large, anything will help those who have little or nothing.
Merry Christmas.
