And sun boosts testosterone too!

Sounds like a little bit doesn't hurt you, unless maybe you have a preexisting condition.

I think it's great news! Prevents "seasonal affective disorder" as well. I'm sure they will add in all the necessary caveats - such as - getting a sunburn is still a big no-no. :nono:

I will also never forego suntan lotion in my face because sun exposure, in my opinion, is the number one aging factor for our skin. But a tanned body sure does look a whole lot better than a white one!

Boosts testosterone? I didn't know that.

15 minutes in the full sun without sunscreen and I get red spots all over every unprotected spot.

Oh the stories I could tell from past abuse! One day my (also blonde) girlfriend abused the sun at my parent's vacation home in Italy. I had read in a magazine that we were supposed to put tomato slices on the blisters. So here she is laying on the couch covered in tomato slices.... Who walks up but our Beau's for the evening!

I get freckles on my face. I don't mind them at all, but they are a sign that I didn't apply enough ST lotion.

Severe sunburns can cause fever. I know...

That had to be hilarious!

A friend in high school used green food coloring to tint his skin one holloween. It turned out great. Unfortunately, it took a couple weeks to wear off. He was quite popular in school for a while.

In my case, it is a true rash. My skin has almost no pigmintation. The burn cames second but the rash happens quickly.

There was a big article about this in Men's Health a year or so ago. There is a doctor who basically only studies vitamin D and the effects of vitamin D deficiency. He linked the areas with the highest vitamin D deficiency to higher instances of prostate or breast cancer, MS, and some other fairly major diseases. The doctor has received criticism in the past because he endorses tanning booths, but something he said made sense to me. He talked about how vitamin D had been shown to reduce cancer growth and talked about the fact that the vast majority of skin cancer cases aren't melanoma (the most harmful kind). Then he basically said, "I'd rather take the chance to get a slow growing skin cancer than prostate or breast cancer caused by vitamin D deficiency."

So I support getting sunlight, because most vitamin D supplements don't actually enter the bloodstream well, and most milks (required to contain vitamin D) actually have less vitamin D in them than they advertise. There is simply no better method of getting vitamin D than the sun. Unfortunately for my area (northeast), the only way to get any UV rays in the winter is through tanning booths.

That's why I drink lots of green tea. Antioxidants are my friend. The fact that it prevents halitosis and has recently been linked to lower body weight make me happy, as well.

Yep we sure don't catch a lot of rays at Fenway Park, do we! (And yeah - Red Sox are still in second place!)

This is a pretty sunny region though. As opposed to say, Seattle. I suspect that even those clear blue skies in the winter provide enough Vit D. I don't think it's related to the burn-factor. You can't of course expose any skin or it'll get frosted off! What to do? I don't trust those tanning booths.

Nope, we just survive through the warmth of our love for the team.

Want to hear something funny? I looked at your location when you started the Red Sox thread earlier and I was like "Hmm...someone from Nebraska started liking the Red Sox?"

It took until just now to connect that NE mean northeast, not the abbreviation for Nebraska. I'm a smart one!
